Welcome back homecoming

by Kelsey Eidson

It’s beginning to look a lot like homecoming as mums, football, high kicks, dresses and dances fill the conversation of students all over the campus. For spirit, band, football and Board of Directors, however, the event is far more than talk as preparations for events come underway.

“Jag Prowl is when all the organizations make floats,” senior and Board of Director representative Sarah Barton said. “They can match the theme or what their organization is about through their float.”

During the pep rally, the participants parade their floats around the track to be judged and awarded different titles.

“Our special judge is going to be Willy Wonka,” Barton said. “He is actually coming down from his factory to judge us!”

The half-time show from our dance and drill teams will be a performance you won’t want to miss.

“Legacies and Belles always do a combined routine where we come together as one,” junior and Johnson Legacy Abbie Lynn said.

After an enthralling showcase from our dancers, band, twirlers and color guard at half time, the football players will continue to fight for first.

“Spirit week really pumps me up, and makes us wanna win for our school and the pride of our graduates,” junior football player Noah Stewart said.

Prior to the dance on Saturday night, band and color guard members will be competing in their first competition of the season.

“We won’t get back until 6:00 on Saturday,” sophomore and trumpist Raquel Kimm said. “It’s gonna be hard to get ready…and get to the dance in a mannerly time.”

The dance is from 8 to midnight, and will be filled with music, dancing, lights, and candy.

“There is going to be a grand chocolate fountain,” Barton said. “You definitely won’t want to miss this year’s homecoming!”
