As the schools year draws to an end, senior events fill the school schedule.
April 1: STAAR Testing
Seniors will be going on an off campus field trip to the Alamo Draft House. Movies being debated are The Croods and Oz. Seniors will receive a bag of popcorn and soft drink. Seniors should report to the student parking lot at 8:45 AM. Students may not walk or drive to or from the theatre. If you have not paid your senior dues, you may not attend and must go to the auditorium and sign in. However, there’s been a discrepancy in this year and last year’s senior event schedule.
“Last year, we had senior late arrival, but this year, it’s been different due to EOC testing. State law says that if the whole campus is testing, then seniors can come late, but this year, that hasn’t been the case. Now we’ve been trying to work around that and give seniors instead early release days,” said senior class sponsor Megan Stokes.
April 10: Summa Reception
The reception will be held for students graduating with a GPA of 100 or higher in the auditorium from 6:00-8:00 PM. Here students will recognize honorees who have impacted their educational experience.
Mid April: Jostens on Campus
Jostens will be on campus during all lunches to deliver graduation announcement invitations and senior merchandise. If you have an outstanding balance or still owe money, you must bring it this day.
April 20: Powder Puff Game
The Third Annual Senior vs. Junior football game will be held at 10 AM on the football field. A half time show will not be permitted due to inappropriate behavior last year. Fans are still welcome to come and cheer on their favorite team.
April 27: Prom
The Venetian themed prom will be held at the J.W. Marriott at 7:00 PM. Bids will be $50 and go on sale two weeks before prom.
April 30: Senior Awards
Awards will be given to senior winning department recognition. The ceremony will be held at 7:00 PM in the Blossom stadium.
May 8 and 9: Senior Meeting
Senior will meet in the auditorium at 8:45 AM while testing is going on. Activities will be announced.
May 10: Senior Talent Show
Seniors will meet in the auditorium at 8:45 to watch fellow seniors’ performances.
May 6 to May 17: AP Testing
Check the counselors website to view the AP testing schedule.
May 30 to June 4: Senior Exams
Senior will take all exams that they aren’t exempt from. Seniors will not be allowed to leave classes if their exams are not done and regular attendance will be taken.
