What to say about Allstar Weekend. They sound like a combination of The Summer Set and The Jonas Brothers, with theirsynthy-modern dance tracks backed up with a couple guitars and dreamy, simple lyrics (I found it a bit funny when they rhymed “baby steps” with “yep”). They attempt to get a taste of the alternative genre with “Clock Runs Out”, which is probably the hardest song on the album, and that isn’t saying much since this album is almost completely upbeat pop. Allstar Weekend’s music have all the elements any preteen wants to hear: poppy melodies you can bounce to, songs about wanting to become a rock star and escape the dull obscurity of suburbia, and of course, directing their attention to the girls in their lives and describing the intoxicating effects of Love, a key component in pop and the Allstar Weekend formula I’ve come to find out. An amusing album, it’s something you want to get for your little sister’s birthday.
