Phil Wickham, a very popular singer in the Christian music industry, performed at Parkhills Baptist church on December 1. The concert started out somewhat slowly, as Wickham covered a few Christmas staples- “O Come All Ye Faithful” and “O Come, O Come Emmanuel” – leaving the concert-goer fearful that he might only perform the sounds of the season. The young songwriter quickly proved them wrong, busting out with fan favorites like “Cannons”, “Divine Romance”, and “Beautiful”, as the audience stood up and sang along. Though a small gathering, the church was bursting at the seams with noise and elation. Wickham put on a great show, scaling down the aura of the concert to a personal, one-on-one mentality. Fans cheered as he belted out clear high notes beside a slamming guitar riff; a sound only enhanced by genuine, emotive lyrics. The show ended on a cliffhanger, as Wickham left the stage mid-chorus; leaving his crowd in suspended awe.
