A new test prep application is readily available in the library on launchpad, and it’s called Learning Express. It allows students to practice any placement test that is available in the country and the new program allows students to participate for free, from anywhere in the world.
Learning Express replaces the former test prep program called TERC, which means Testing Education Reference Center.
“It’s a new program the district purchased, all students have an account. It’s called learning express. When each student goes to launchpad on neisd.net, the can select library resources, then select learning express as an app. In order to login each student can use their NEISD credentials to create a login,” Librarian Haley Schmidt said.
You can easily create an account for Learning Express by going to www.neisd.net, selecting library resources, select Learning Express, go to sign in/register, click on register. After registering, you can select centers to see the practice tests you can take, or you can search the test you want to take in the search bar.
“After they sign in they can select find test or work centers. Every college placement and admission test, several practice tests, academic skills, grad school, exams, and US citizen test prep. The tests are available in Spanish. There’s tutorials on how to write a cover letter, and create a resume,” Schmidt said
Any student can take these tests and use Learning express for no cost.
“Each test has 3 different types. The first type allows you to take the test with no time limit but it won’t be practice, after completion you will get a score. The second type will let you know if you were right or wrong after each question, and the last type is timed,” Schmidt said
Since launchpad is accessible from a mobile device you can use it on your phone if you install the application. You can use it anywhere as long as you have access to the internet. If you have a home computer you can use learning express by logging into the launchpad site.
“We had TERC last year, then library services and the district purchased Learning Express, so we no longer have TERC. It was a district decision, You can use it at home, school, or just anywhere,” Schmidt said.
