Technology issues continue to be a part of each teacher’s day as the fall semester begins.
“The fact that not all students are able to access all of the technology/applications using whatever device they have and the fact that the technology and apps don’t always work on my end like it should – most likely inadvertent user error – is also troubling,” Law Enforcement teacher Bianca Edwards, said.
Technical issues with teachers have been pretty routine, but easy to solve.
“All of our teachers got software training this summer, so we don’t have many issues or concerns with the actual delivery of content. The problems arise with the new systems we have in place to cover old processes that teachers didn’t have time to interact with prior to the start of school like attendance,” Assistant Principal Dr. Felecia Joiner said.
Some processes have changed since teachers are required to perform them over zoom.
“The process for attendance is totally new, so helping teachers experience that paradigm shift of what attendance used to be and what it is now has been challenging with a few, but with many hands holding they are coming right along,” Dr. Joiner said.
Not being able to bond with students can be quite stressful for some teachers.
“The fact that what you see on your screen as a student is not necessarily what I see as a teacher in a lot of the apps; this makes walking students through it pretty tough,” Edwards said.
And while tech issues might continue, campus administrators are confident that they can help the community resolve whatever problems arise.
“We have been able to assist our community (maybe not right when they wanted an answer), but we are able to find answers and not leave people hanging. So overall my difficulty threshold with this new virtual educational experience has been pretty low, fingers crossed it stays that way!”. Dr.Joiner said.
