It had to happen eventually, right? We have students walking around with smart phones that have more capabilities and storage than some of their parent’s first computers. There’s a world of information and entertainment at their fingertips.
And of course it’s been hard to ignore the bad news in recent years as newspapers around the country closed up shop, facing the inevitable truth that society was more interested in finding their news online in pixels instead of on paper.
But even as we will all flock online to get our news, there will still be a need for the accurate and honest gathering of information. Journalism is still important. And in the barrage of information that the internet offers up, it’s nice to know that there will be reliable sources.
So, yes – it did have to happen. Paperless and digital aren’t just buzzwords. They are what our society is embracing as it moves
