Lunchtime is typically the center of a student’s day. When you get your schedule at the beginning of the year one of the first things you do is compare it with your friends and hope you have the same lunch period. Lunch is when you get a break, get to socialize, and get to eat. Depending on what you prefer, you’ll either bring your own lunch or go through the lunch line. I personally don’t believe the line works the greatest for picky eaters, but it can get a little too expensive for some people to bring in their own lunch everyday.
The easiest way to combat this is by checking the school menu to see what days said picky eaters can eat from the line, and what days they should bring their own lunch. You can go to this link to find the weekly menu for this month. Today for example, if you wanted to get a school lunch you would have different variations of a generic kids menu found at family restaurants.
The lunch area is separated by inside and outside. If you sit inside you will find several long tables in the main area and a few shorter tables pushed off to the side. If you choose to sit outside you’ll have a few more options. You can sit at the round tables just outside the cafeteria, at the picnic tables under the catwalk, at the picnic tables under the sunshades, or at the benches around the sides. You also have the option of getting a pass earlier in the day to eat in the library.
If you plan to sit outside but are worried about the weather, you don’t have to worry. If it falls beneath a certain temperature or is raining, the staff will set up tables in the foyer of the main building for all the lunch periods. I personally like sitting outside rather than in, it’s less crowded and not nearly as loud as the cafeteria. When it’s really hot out it’s nice to bring a hand-held fan and when it gets a bit colder an extra jacket with a hand warmer goes a long way, or you can just huddle up with your friends like a colony of penguins.
