The majority of campus restrooms will once again remain locked before and after school.
“Before school we have the upper foyer restrooms open and athletic building restrooms open during they start to unlock the first floor A, second floor A, second floor G, third floor A,” assistant principal Steven Berg said. “Around 4’o clock that’s when they start to lock them back up and we open the upper foyer, so before school it’s really just the upper foyer restrooms are open and after school just the upper foyer restrooms are open.”
The plan is to keep this throughout this school year and in the future. Administration hopes this cuts down on some vandalism and other things that just cause a mess for the school’s custodians.
“So we made the switch to just the one restroom in the morning and that we’re able to monitor it and that seemed to have helped our custodians out tremendously,” Berg said. “Locked in the mornings except for the upper foyer and then starting to get locked at 4 o’clock and everybody is in the upper foyer at that time.”
Some students are also able to think of a few reasons why this change might help.
“I know that some girl groups like to go in there and chat, gossip, or whatever they want,” freshman Ginger Dejaing Chang said.
At the same time, having access to only a portion of the facilities can be inconvenient.
“Depending on the bathroom it’s how far it is and if you really need to go you might have to risk peeing your pants or just running straight towards it,” Chang said. “You might be on the third floor and have to walk down to the first floor to get to the bathroom, and that could take a long time, and students and teachers might just get really sick of it.”
