Students wanting to change their schedules need to be aware of a new policy that could affect their class rank . Students only have four weeks to change their schedule and move to their new class.
“The reason why a student can’t change to their new class after four weeks is because those weeks are the foundation of the course, and you learn a lot of important info,” Principal Melbrech said.
Changing schedules late can cause classroom confusion.
“Lots of kids changing classes causes problems for the teachers in class balance,” Melbrech said.
One common schedule change for students is moving from AP to Pre-AP or vise versa and regular to pre-AP.
“[To switch from] pre-AP to regular you have to prove that you are ready to improve your grades,” Melbrech said.
But the requirement to switch into an AP class is more difficult, since it is a decision that can significantly affect your rank and college acceptance.
“You have to have a form signed by your parents [to switch into] AP because it is a higher class with higher expectations,” Melbrech said.
The counselors have been hard at work to get students’ schedules the way they want it.
“We hope next Friday, with the changes to be done and fixed,” counselor Patty Snider said.
