This past week marked the beginning of the college football season. The first week featured one top ten matchup, and one other top 25 matchup. After the long pre-season camps of preparation and training, the teams and passionate fans were ready to kick off the year.
The season kicked off with one of the premier games of this college football season, Alabama versus MIchigan, which was played at a neutral site (Cowboys Stadium). Alabama won the game by a final score of 41-14, giving the team a boost in the rankings to the number one spot.
“I think that Alabama will win the National Championship, they have a really good team returning from last year,” sophomore Grant Hickok said.
The fans of Texas A&M cannot wait for their season opener. Texas A&M’s game against Louisiana Tech was postponed due to Hurricane Isaac. That game was re-scheduled for October 13th which left many Aggie fans disappointed. This means that the season opening game will be played against the Florida Gators at Kyle Field.
“My favorite part of game-day is being able to be on campus and see the student body; it’s just a really awesome sight,” senior Brie Foresman said.
The excitement for the Texas Longhorns football season is immense and the fans were ready for the kickoff game against the Wyoming Cowboys.
“I expect for Texas to win at least nine games,” sophomore William Baca said.
With the change up in the teams of the Big 12, SEC, and other conferences, this season will be less predictable than recent years’.
“I’m really excited about this college football season,” Baca said.
