Valentines Day is an annual tradition that has a significant purpose for couples around the world, from the displays of affection to the meaningful presents.
According to http://www.abs-cbnnews.com/, a kiss on Valentines Day is said to bring good luck all year long. Flowers given during Valentines Day have different meanings; red roses means love, yellow roses means friendship, pink roses means sweetheart, red carnations mean admiration, white carnations mean pure love, and primrose means young love.
Valentine’s Day comes once a year where couples begin to profess their love for one another, through gift giving and unforgettable evenings.
“They have to express how much they love each other,” senior Krystal Wedhorn said, “My boyfriend [senior Josh Gilbert] better buy me some flowers.”
The purpose of Valentines Day is to complete the wishes of your other half; according to most boyfriends.
“I’m going to buy flowers like my girlfriend asked. Probably buy roses to give to her,” Gilbert said, “Valentines Day is special for couples, it shows how much you care about one another.”
Besides gift-giving, Valentines Day can be glorified by a couple by the event they share with one another.
“I’m going to take [my girlfriend] to the Eli Young concert on Friday which is the big, immediate gift for Valentines Day,” senior Andrew Moore said, “Of course I’m going to give her flowers.”
Some Valentine’s Day presents are postponed on a long term basis.
“Besides my immediate gift, I’m also planning on taking her to prom which is kinda far away,” Moore said.
However, some couples believe Valentine’s Day is only for those certain pairs that have spent a long time with one another.
“It means a lot more for couples that have been together a long time,” Moore said, “The longer they are together, the more it should matter.”
Remembering Valentine’s Day is important to maintain a happy relationship, failure to make your other half happy can leave a couple in shambles.
“They have to show their love for one another because most people get left out on Valentine’s Day,” Wedhorn said.
