Johnson varsity baseball defeated Roosevelt 7-0 on April 12 and lost to Reagan 12-3 on April 16 to move their record to 15-9(6-4).
“Our team is not as experienced as last year’s team,” junior Nick Mireles said, “but we have a ton of potential for the rest of this season and going into next year.”
The team has been playing well and has high hopes for this year’s district playoffs.
“We are going to play as long and hard as we can so we can keep our season alive,” junior Tanner Wall said.
All of the players and coaches work hard to prepare for each game as they get ready to head into the playoffs
“We usually have a pregame prayer before each game to help fire us up,” senior Zach Hammer.
Many players have seen improvement in both their play and the play of their team so far this season.
“I feel like I have definitely improved,” Mireles said,”this year’s team is young so we have the ability to get better each year.”
Players believe they have a chance to finish this season strong and head into next year with a ton of momentum.
“We have the ability to be a very good team this year and next year once our pitching reaches its full potential.” Wall said.
Next up for the Jags is a game against Lee on April 19, their second to last game before the playoffs.
“We are playing very strong right now and have great momentum that will carry over into the playoffs,” Hammer said.
