Taylor Swift’s third album, Speak Now, dropped October 25, and is already number 1 on iTunes within 24 hours. Swift has described this album as “a diary of her past year,” represents the issues she has gone through since the time Fearless dropped. From her love life, to the infamous interruption from Kanye West at the VMA’s, her point of view is out for everyone to hear. Swift has no problem writing her honest opinion, and this assertiveness shines through in all 14 tracks. Her very creative and personal style keeps her on top in the music industry, and keeps her connected to her millions of fans everywhere.
The mix of styles varies within the album, from the slow ballad “Back to December” to the more upbeat song “Better than Revenge”, the diversity in her songs keeps listeners entertained. Each song provides Swift’s insight on every issue the singer has lived, no matter how publicly known or not.
The album’s style itself has changed slightly from Fearless, in a more mature way. We see Swift grow up a little, leaving her very innocent reputation behind, though not drastically, with her signature sound still present.
