It was a wednesday, precisely 11:30 in the morning, when the world seemed to stop spinning. The news broke and spread like wildfire. A simple Facebook post turned into hundreds of online articles within minutes. The simplistic lifestyle we all seemed to occupy transformed to chaos. Some are calling this day the worst day in history, their history at least. It was like a new Doomsday. Or a modern Dark Age. Thats right, it’s the day Zayn Malik left One Direction.
Zayn’s departure made world news. Millions of girls, stretching from Texas to Australia and everywhere in between, shed tears. Five years of pure dedication and love for the boy band that transformed their lives comes crashing down right before their eyes. The five piece group is down to its four remaining members – Harry, Niall, Louis, and Liam.
In the very short official statment fans received off One Direction’s Facebook page stated that Zayn was leaving due to health reasons and to live a normal life. However, many speculations have emerged concerning Zayn’s true intentions on leaving the band. Some say he is going solo, which is a very plausible and likely situation. on the other hand, some are convinced Zayn ended his music career to pursue a career in boxing.
For some fans, Zayn leaving wasn’t a surprise. They took the clues from Zayn taking a break off tour for stress and predicted this would happen sooner or later. On the other hand, the rest of the fans were in pure shock. Even Simon Cowell was surprised, which is saying something because putting the worlds biggest boy band together on a limb obviously means he can predict the future.
However, these girls in distress are left questioning their very existence. Even though One Direction is continuing on, everyone knows they’re heading in different directions. They warned us with their album title “Four,” but nobody really expected Zayn to officially leave the band.
Nobody really talks about it anymore. Instead, they sit in their rooms, cradling their One Direction pillow from 2012, listening to “What Makes You Beautiful” on repeat. They cherish the memories from One Direction’s fetus days, when life was simpler.
