The Jags competed in the South Zone TISCA Championships at the Josh Davis Natatorium on Saturday, December 4. The event drew competition among the best swimmers from San Antonio, Houston, and Austin. The Jags had a strong showing and ended with their girls claiming 6th place and the boys placing 9th, with an overall 6th place finish and an accumulation of 420 points.
Junior Cameron Wickes stole the show when he swam the first sub five-minute 500 yard freestyle in Johnson Swimming history. Wickes’ 4:57.62 500 yard freestyle broke a record previously held by former Johnson student Steven Neathery, who swam it in 5:00.77 last year.
Senior Caleste Morgen, junior Riley Marks, sophomore Brianna Higgina, and freshman Raquel Grays placed 2nd in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a mark of 1:41.69.
Juniors Joshua Morgan, Nocolas Guillen, Cameron Wickes, and sophomore Reid McCorkie placed 2nd in the boys 200 yard medley relay.
