Love: undoubtably one of the most curious and complex emotions anyone could experience. It will make people make the craziest, most stupid decisions they have made in their life. Decisions that would have never been made if one were single. Most often can’t choose who they fall in love with. For some, high school love presents a dilemma that isn’t always easy to cope with. The inter-school relationship presents a lot of problems that couples who attend the same school don’t have.
“It’s definitely harder not getting to see them throughout the day, especially when you see other couples in the hallway getting to walk each other to class,” junior Tate Huebner said.
It’s a clear consensus that the greatest hurdle in a relationship is dealing with not seeing each other every day, but some couples see the silver lining in this grey cloud.
“It does stink not getting to see each other during the school day, but at the same time I’m glad it’s that way because it lets us have time for ourselves to see our friends rather than worry about seeing each other,” junior Alyssa Clark says.
However, this time to themselves does create another issue that many have, but are afraid to admit. It tests one’s ability to trust, because you have no idea what your partner could be doing while you’re not around.
“It definitely does require a lot more trust. You have to be able to have faith in your relationship and trust in your partner,” Huebner said.
Some couples wonder what it would be like if their boyfriend or girlfriend did go to the same school. Would it actually be better if they did, and how different they would be. As you can imagine, it would be a very nice change for a couple.
“My boyfriend used to go to Reagan, but since he moved and goes here now. It’s been really great. I get to see him way more during school, that way outside of school we don’t necessarily need to see each other as much as we used to, so it lets me hangout and have fun with my friends more” junior Meagan Ramirez said.
Even though it may be harder to date someone that attends a different school, it is by no means impossible. There are plenty of couples that manage it, and manage it well enough that the fact that they go to different schools doesn’t affect their relationship.
“At the end of the day we’re just like any couple, we love each other and that’s all that matters,” Huebner said.
