Super Street construction may further inconvenience Johnson-band drivers in the coming months; as drivers can no longer take left turns onto 281 from Marshall. Instead, they must take a right and use the turnaround.
The ultimate goal of this ongoing project is to eliminate traffic on Highway 281.
“They’re closing [Marshall] down for the Super Street, and it’s going to keep everything going straight and make traffic better,” AP Mitch Brown said.
Hardly worth the end result, senior Samira Chary, who drives to Johnson from Summerglen, has her doubts.
“I hate it. I think it’s horrible because it’s going to make me even later to school,” Chary said.
She believes new construction is only going to worsen the traffic problem.
“When it first starts out, it’s gonna be all traffic…because everyone’s going to start getting used to it,” Chary said. “I think it’s going to be traffic at least the first two or three weeks.”
The construction is only temporary, and should be finished by the beginning of 2011, but student drivers should allot extra time for their current morning commute.
“I think it’s gonna take like twenty minutes [to get to school during construction]. It only takes fifteen minutes now, but it’s a big difference when you’re rushing to get to school on time, especially with the earlier school time and everything,” Chary said.
