We all have obsessions that come and go but one craze, mostly among women, is sticking. The social photo sharing website, Pinterest, allows users to create and manage their own boards where they can “pin” images of ‘things’ they find intriguing or would have interest in buying or creating. The site allows users to browse through or follow other user’s boards. The site is sure to spark anyone’s creative side. Some of Pinterest’s most popular categories include “DIY & Crafts,” “Food & Drink,” “Womens Apparel,” “Architecture,” “Fitness,” and “Hair & Beauty.”
Pinterest gives students insight on plenty of new ideas that you can test out in the comfort of your own home. Many students have found themselves trying out things that they never imagined in their wildest dreams.
After the hustle and bustle on school days, sophomore Alexis Guillory can always depend on a delectable Pinterest dinner along with a tasty Pinterest dessert following. Alexis and her mother have found various tasty treats to test out such as croissant rolls with peanut butter and chocolate chips, chocolate chip cookies with oreos baked inside, a tie-dye colored cake, and croissant rolls with cinnamon and marshmallows.
Sophomore Mackenzie Bryant has found her creative side and gives plenty of thanks to Pinterest. For Valentine’s Day, Mackenzie cut up Crayola crayons into small pieces, mixed them up, and put them in a heart-shaped cupcake sheet. She then baked the crayons in the oven and they came out in fun, heart-shaped, oversized crayons!
She also tried out a unique nail design tip she discovered on Pinterest. First, you paint your nails whatever color you desire (preferably a lighter shade) and let them dry for about 15-30 minutes. Next you cut newspaper text into little snipets that will fit the shape of your nails. After, you dip the snipets into rubbing alcohol and press them onto each of your nails. When you remove the paper, whala! You now have newspaper print on each of your fingernails. To finish it off, apply a clear topcoat.
Another one-of-a-kind idea is cookie dough smothered in sprinkles. Instead of sticking plain old cookie dough in the oven, cover the dough in sprinkles before sticking them in the oven. You can also mix it up and roll the dough in chopped nuts, coconut shavings, or any other toppings you desire.
Senior Audrey Duvall covered a canvas board with festive fabric and then plastered her initials onto the board with an abundance of buttons.
These are just a few of the nifty ideas that students have taken away from the wonderful world of Pinterest. If feel the need for some inspiration to spice up your creative side, you will just have to check out the site for yourself!
