This NFL off season has marked one of the biggest free agent frenzies in the league’s history. The reason being Peyton Manning-winner of a Super Bowl, recipient of multiple MVP awards, and ranked in the top five in almost every major passing category. It was almost immediate that teams were calling his representatives and trying to convince the prestigious quarterback to lead their team after his release from the Indianapolis Colts. Right of the bat, it seemed Miami was a frontrunner in the fight to win his favor, seeing that it was the first place he went after the press conference that announced the shocking news of his departure. After a complex series of events and he has officially signed with the Denver Broncos, a team that had plenty of quarterback trouble last year-but seemed to have settled on Tim Tebow.
Now Manning will obviously come in and start, however the signing has created a whole new set of questions regarding the aforementioned Tim Tebow. Should the Broncos trade him away and get whatever they can for him, or should they keep him and let the experienced Peyton mentor the young quarterback to possibly spearhead the team in the future? They recently decided to trade him to the Jets for a fourth round pick, a team that had so many blaring issues, most of them being moral problems in the locker room. If Tebow can keep up his spotless reputation, he’ll bring more than his talents as a quarterback, he’ll also give them someone to model themselves after.
With Denver now secured as Peyton’s team and his alone, the Broncos have to look around in the free agency again to try and pick up some talent outside of Peyton Manning, because even though he’s famous for making ‘okay’ players look great, he still needs offensive help and a steady defense. They’ll look to the draft to help find those players for Peyton as most of the talented free agents have already been gobbled up.
