The Jags have swept the district meet for the second straight year. Both the girls and boys varsity as well as JV were able to prevail once again and come out on top. The boys had a convincing first day at the district meet and all they had to do was hold off Reagan and Churchill. The Jags were able to dominate, varsity winning by 71 points. The JV team capped of their three-peat winning by 70 plus points. Andres Salazar was able to maintain his dominance as he anchored the 4 by 400 meter relay and posted a time of 49.57.
“I think that coming off our great district meet we will have a lot of momentum going into regionals,” junior Andres Salazar said.
As for the girls, they were also holding a nice lead going into day two of the meet. They had a great day two and their closest challenger was Madison 36 points behind. The jv girls also held off Reagan winning by 25 points. They were able to prevail even without a relay win. Regionals are looking promising for both the boys and girls.
“Training hard and getting in extra workouts is key in having a good regional meet,” Salazar said.
Regionals are approaching and the Jags have many athletes representing Johnson. Senior Joey Louwagie and junior Andres Salazar have already earned themselves a spot in the regional meet.
“We have been able to accomplish most of our seasonal goals and want to finish the season of strong,” Salazar said
