Summer is a chance to relax, eat whatever you desire, and have as much fun as possible. Unfortunately, these lazy days can give
you a large gap in your workout regimen. It’s very important to stay in shape even when your motivation is at its lowest point.
“Staying fit over summer is probably one of the most difficult things considering you have absolutely zero motivation to even get out of bed in the morning,” sophomore Kendra Castillo said.
With summers at severely high temperatures, it can be very dangerous to exercise outside. For this reason one might consider some forms of indoor training.
“They have a lot of classes at Lifetime Fitness that keep you in top shape. There’s zumba, soul grooves, vinyasa yoga, hot yoga, kickboxing, and even water aerobics,” junior Becca Griffith said.
If you are looking to not only stay in shape, but to get completely toned, you might consider the Insanity DVDs instructed by Shaun T. This workout has had outstanding results and it is sure to push you to your limits if you are willing to test it out.
“My best friend and I are doing Insanity this summer and it’s going to be intense! People already have lots of bets on us but I’m sure we can keep with it,” junior Alyssa Clark said.
When in doubt, go to the Fitness category on Pinterest and it will guarantee you plenty of ideas and methods to keep with that summer body that you’ve worked so hard to get.
“I always do workouts from Pinterest because it gives you so many options,” junior Morgan Gerlich said.
What better way to start off your day than a nice refreshing workout. It has been proven that swimming is the greatest and most effective way to stay in shape.
“Doing laps in the pool definitely gets my blood pumping and it’s a good workout because you’re not outside in the gazillion-degree weather,” junior Kristen Hunt said.
During summer, it is easy to lose sight of what is most important to our survival, which is our health.
“If you can find some sort of motivation to stay in shape this summer, you really won’t regret it,” Clark said.
