The absence of the Johnson band at the football game against Churchill this past weekend proved to dissatisfy many spectators and players alike.
“The game was like a pizza with no sauce and no cheese…just bread!” sophomore Katie Walsh said.
The band was attending a UIL competition during a game that proved to be thrilling in the least as the Jags fell to the Chargers 38-27; their presence was sorely missed.
“It was a sad day,” sophomore dancer Courtney Zito said. “We couldn’t see the band’s beautiful faces.”
The football players also felt the vacancy the band left in the atmosphere. No “”boolah boolah” or Thriller outbreaks to be played to motivate the team.
“It was weird,” senior offensive player Zachary Prevost said. “The enthusiasm and passion was missing from the game.”
The cheerleaders and fans must once again conjure up their own spirit and zeal since the band will be absent from the game this Friday against Reagan.
“We’re kind of a big deal,” sophomore band member Raquel Kimm said. “It’s a bummer we won’t be at the game, but we’ll be beatin’ it up at BOA this weekend.”
