Last year brought big title horror movies such as “Get Out” and “It”, setting high expectations for the future of the horror industry. With the recent trailers, it seems movie producers do not intend to disappoint.
The first, and probably one of the most anticipated movies, is “Slender Man”. The creepypasta of this fictional character has been around for a while and has long since inspired many horrific tales. People have even claimed to have “seen” Slenderman in old images and in real life. Fans of Slenderman will be looking at the film with a judgemental eye, but from what the trailer has shown, it appears to be very well done.

Plot: When four high school girls perform a ritual to discover the truth about Slenderman, one of them goes mysteriously missing. As they begin to search for her, they start to believe that she is Slenderman’s victim.
“A Quiet Place” seems to be a unique and creative film, insinuating that a family must live their life in complete silence in order to avoid a horrible monster. The movie features famous actress Emily Blunt playing the role of a mother of two. The trailer is thrilling and keeps the audience on their toes with various jump scares; it’s beautifully artistic in a creepy way.

Plot: If they hear you, they hunt you.
Psychological horror can sometimes produce the most terrifying and interesting movies in the film industry. The movie “Unsane” seems to be living up to this common trope. The trailer covers a realistic-ish scenario which would have anyone biting their nails, creating an anxious atmosphere for the preview. As a lover of psychological horror, I’d say this movie looks excellently executed and intriguing.

Plot: To escape a man who’s been stalking her for two years, Sawyer Valentini moves from Boston to Pennsylvania in order to escape her stalker. While meeting with a therapist, Valentini unknowingly signs up to stay at Highland Creek Behavioral Center for 24 hours. Her stay is soon extended as doctors question if she is really sane. Valentini starts to believe that a member of the staff is her stalker–and she’ll do anything to stay alive and get out.
What seems to be one of the creepier titles on the list, “Hereditary” goes back to the heart of horror with its’ eerie trailer. The plot is basic enough, displaying nothing past films haven’t already captured, however, it’s unique in the way it’s presented. Instead of focusing the film on one location, the movie plays around with its setting, which makes it more intriguing. Movie reviewers are calling “Hereditary” the new “Exorcist”, which is saying a lot considering how successful the production was.
