Jags take on the Mavericks in hopes to improve 1-2 district record

Madelyn Carter | Staff Writer

The varsity girls basketball team has had a slow start to their district season with 1 win and 2 losses. This Wednesday, the team will take on the Madison Mavericks who stand 0-2 in district so far.
Sophomore Brie Foresman is a scoring machine for the Jags averaging 11 points per game, making 41% of her attemped field goals.
“I feel confident about this game,” Foresman said. “We just need to play strong defense and run our offenses right to beat Madison tomorrow.”
The varsity girls coach, Audra Bredemeyer has been molding this team for three years now. With 2 losses in the district season so far, she believes her girls can do better.
“We were disappointed in the loss to Reagan; we knew we could’ve played better,” Bredemeyer said. “Also the loss to Mac, we let them take the game. We knew we could’ve won that one.”
With the best all around record so far from a Johnson girls basketball team coming out of this season, Bredemeyer has high hopes to clench a district win.
“We need to play as a team, and do the little things right,” Bredemeyer  said. “As long as everyone does what they need to do in the game, we’ll have a good chance to beat Madison.
The Lady Jags will play the Madison Mavericks this Wednesday at Littleton Gym at 6:30 pm.
