Finding the best Barnes and Noble

Barnes+and+Noble+section+with+books+in+spanish

by Katie Barton|editor-in-chief

Barnes and Noble is my favorite store of all time. I could be having the worst day ever but once I walk through those doors I immediately become happy again. There are several different B&N locations in San Antonio, each one containing their own unique layout and best stocked sections. So now I will be passing my B&N knowledge onto you as I rank all the Barnes & Noble in San Antonio based on their best sections.

Barnes and Noble at Northwoods

First up we have the Northwoods Barnes & Nobles. This B&N is the most average of them all. Its sections are all filed, decently, organized and easy to find. Really nothing extraordinary. The one thing that sets it apart from the others is its’ section filled with books translated into Spanish. Its really unique to see a book store have a section in another language and thats something not found in any of these other stores. If you’re looking for books in a wide variety of genres or are looking for books in Spanish the Northwoods B&N is the place to look.

Barnes and Noble at La Cantera

The La Cantera Barnes & Noble has it all; it has two stories filled with books, an impeccable manga section with rows and rows of huge shelves and just when you think it ends it just keeps going. It also has a great childrens and YA section and a huge adult section upstairs. The only downside is it’s usually super crowded. For me the whole reason B&N is my favorite store is because it’s quiet and calm and usually there’s not a ton of people all in one section. So if crowds aren’t really your thing I would avoid this B&N.

Barnes and Noble at San Pedro Crossing

The Barnes & Noble at San Pedro Crossing has an amazing manga section that takes up a whole fourth of the store, as well as a large YA section and unlike the La Cantera B&N this one is way less crowded; the only thing this B&N doesn’t have is a good adult section. For example their sci-fi, horror, and fantasy sections are all tiny and really hard to navigate. It’s so confusing that sometimes I’m convinced its not alphabetized correctly. This B&N is best for you as long as you are looking for Manga, YA books, and not trying to search for adult books.

So on Saturday night while the other teens are partying, you can find me at on of these Barnes and Noble stores perusing the shelves, with a stack of books in my arms.
