After their final game of the season against Madison, varsity volleyball did not make it to playoffs. They ranked fifth in district with an overall record of 20-22.
“We had another one against Reagan, but if we beat Madison like that’ll give us – that’ll get us into playoffs,” junior Ada Awagu said.
Last time they went up against Madison, they lost in a nailbiter with five sets.
“It really just depends on like, how we play our game next week because it all comes down to one game really and we just have to play as a team and work together,” junior Ava Castillo said.
Their current records are 7-4 for home, 5-5 for on the road, and 7-12 for games at neutral courts. Their game against Madison was neutral- Madison continues to hold the place for fourth in district with an overall score of 32-13.
“But last year, we went to the playoffs, but this year it’s a struggle to get into the playoffs,” Castillo said.
Nonetheless, the players are confident in their team and have been guided by the five seniors on it, who they recently celebrated during their annual Senior Night.
“So if I’m like in my head while I’m playing. They’ll just like help me out. Tell me like what I need to fix and what I’m doing wrong,” Castillo said.
“Our [junior] class is like a really strong one. So as the years are going on, we’re getting stronger, collectively,” Awagu said. “And so that’s pretty cool to see.”
