Whether you need a Valentine’s gift for a long term valentine or you are unsure what to get at the awkward stage of a new relationship, a box of chocolates tends to be the safest bet.
When it comes to Valentine’s Day chocolate, Russell Stover is a classic. Overall Russell Stover is a delicious and cheap($6.21) option.
In the slim 5.1 ounce box there were 9 delicious rich pieces of chocolate. The flavors include: milk chocolate, caramel milk chocolate, peanut cluster dark chocolate truffle, milk chocolate strawberry cream, dark chocolate nut caramel, dark chocolate vanilla cream, and milk chocolate chocolate buttercream.
Unfortunately in this box, there were a few misses. The nut and truffle candies got low marks on taste like the caramel and peanut cluster. Both the caramel and peanut cluster were very chewy, they almost tasted like thick snickers without the crunch. The tough texture was hard to enjoy and left my jaw tired from chewing.
On the other hand, the strawberry and vanilla creme were light and fluffy and not overpowering at all. They tasted like a fluffy marshmallow and strawberry that had been dipped in a chocolate fountain.
Overall, though, if you’re looking for a solid box of chocolates on Valentine’s Day and don’t have a lot of dough to spare, Russell Stover is an excellent option that all chocolate lovers can appreciate.
