Although the packaging of this Elmer Chocolate set is not the most romantic,

I found the chocolates themselves to be quite pretty. They’re smooth and shiny, with a mix of dark and milk chocolate. There are 15 chocolates included with five different flavors: caramel, strawberry créme, orange créme, cocoa truffle, and chocolate caramel.
My least favorite flavors were the caramel and strawberry créme. The strawberry créme has a very gooey inside and tastes like Yoplait yogurt. The mix of it with milk chocolate made it way too sweet, so it left that burning aftertaste. I might be biased though because this has always been my least favorite flavor. It’s not disgusting and I prefer the créme inside to the nougat-like filling most cheap strawberry chocolates have. The caramel is milk chocolate, with a thick, light caramel filling. It tastes like one of those soft, square caramel candies you might find in a small town or has the flavor of a Werther’s Original. It just did not stand out to me and was not necessarily horrible, but not good either.

My middle tier chocolates were the orange créme and chocolate caramel. These are like the strawberry and caramel, but slightly better. Maybe it’s because they have dark chocolate to balance out the sweet inside. Lastly, the chocolate caramel is not too sweet, but the filling does have that same old, stale taste as the other one. The biggest advantage of it is its lack of sweetness, which makes it not amazing, but definitely tolerable. The orange filling is very sweet, still too sweet to me, but there is a definitive citrus taste that pairs nicely with the outside. It does taste like a lot of sugar, but it does not leave quite the same burning sensation.
The cocoa truffle is by far my favorite, it’s soft, actually quite pleasant, and not too sweet. It tastes a little like hazelnut. Even though I prefer dark chocolate, the milk chocolate and filling were very similar and blended well. However, it does leave that slight burning sensation in your mouth and a bit of an unpleasant aftertaste.
Overall, for the price of $4.15, these chocolates are a decent choice– as long as your valentine does not mind excessive sugar or sweetness. You also get a large quantity, so that is definitely one of its biggest advantages. However, do not expect anything groundbreaking or gourmet. The best way to put it is that these are perfectly average.
