Johnson Golf has done exceptionally well this year, displaying good finishes in both the boys and girls
divisions.
“Our girls program has won three tournaments this year,” golf instructor Mike Martin said. “Our boys program has played amongst some of the elite powerhouse teams across the state and have competed very well, finishing 2nd, 3rd, and 4th in over half of our tournaments, establishing us as an up-and-coming golf team that deserves some attention and recognition.”
Along with the tournaments in which Johnson Golf competes, they also give back with some annual fundraisers.
“Johnson Jaguar Golf Extravaganza is set for April 15. 1:30 shotgun start. Its held at Canyon Springs. It’s an awesome time; everybody gets to come play,” said Martin
Next week is the district competition, and all eyes will be on Johnson Golf to see if they will pull a big win and take the district title.
“Girls play at Pecan Valley on Monday and Tuesday. The boys play at Pecan Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday,” Martin said. “It ought to be a really good battle between us, Churchill, and Reagan.”
Only three teams have made it to district, and all are fighting for the win.
“All three have played well and are very competitive amongst one and other, and I probably feel like these three schools are the best in the region,” Martin added.
