Spotted: Great with Tape

Spotted: Great with Tape

Creative expression comes in many forms, but one in particular has become a signature for sophomore Garrison Neal.

“I create little duct tape items like wallets and purses,” Neal said.

Then one day, he took it to a whole new level.

“I made a duct tape costume on a whim, and that got me started making them,” Neal said.

His latest costume is a storm trooper outfit, but he has created many more.

“I’ve done previous costumes, but they don’t fit me anymore,” Neal said.

Neal’s masterpieces come from a simple inspiration.

“I don’t know [what inspired me]; Star Wars inspired me I guess,” Neal said. “It was just a fun project.”

Creating the costume was very time consuming.

“That costume took about twelve hours of work,” Neal said. “They should only do it if they have lots of free time.”

Neal turned heads at Johnson’s annual dodgeball tournament. He decided to wear his costume which drew a lot of attention, pulling all eyes and cameras to Neal.

“Everybody thought it was pretty cool. They always want to take pictures,” he said. “It’s nice to be wanted for once.”
