With graduation coming up, some seniors have found alternatives for not going to college straight out of high school.
“I’m not going to college because I’m working to buy an apartment,” senior Lydia Gonzalez said. “ Once I am financially stable I will be applying to colleges around me for my future career.”
Students who still want to attend school, but not go to a typical college, have found schools perfect for what they want to do for their future.
“I found this great car mechanic school that I’ve been interested in that would benefit me more because I want to work with cars and it is cheaper and it is not as long of a period of schooling than regular college,” senior Jake Snyder said.
Other seniors have found better opportunities for them than going to college.
“Joining the Army has always been something that I’ve wanted to do since I was a boy, I’m super grateful to be able to serve our country,” senior Connor Brezenski said. “ Maybe after I’m done with the Army then I will go to college but I haven’t decided.
Traveling around the world has made an impact on students that want to see things before going to school. (need help with this one)
“I wanted to take a year off from school to travel before I got wrapped up in school,” senior Amaya Suarez said. “I’m hopeful by the time school starts again in the fall that COVID will not be that bad and I am able to go have fun before I start my long journey to becoming a doctor.”
Some students have found working with their family to be beneficial for them.
“My father owns this business he created and he is training me so I can be able to work alongside him at his company and still be able to be successful and save money from not going to college,” senior Carlos Medina said.
However there are students who will attend college, but not as soon as they graduate.
“I still want to go to college but I just want to take a break from school, I’m going to take a semester off and work a little bit to get some extra money and enjoy my time off from doing school work than once that semester ends I will be going to college.” senior Melody Iuata said.
