The Johnson boys basketball team just came off a disappointing loss to the Roosevelt Rough Riders by a score of 74-73.  This is the third loss so far in district play. With the 0-3 start to district play, the team has got off to a mediocre start, but there are signs of hope with an upcoming game against Reagan.

“This game against Reagan definitely stands out as being important, not only because it’s a district game but because of the rivalry between Johnson and Reagan,” junior Jason Louwagie said.

So far throughout the basketball season there have been many close games that the boys could have conquered, including a one point loss to Roosevelt on January seventh.

“We didn’t capitalize on all of our chances, and there were several mistakes we made late down the stretch which cost us in the end,” junior Mike Harris said.

Basketball season has not been as successful as the team has hoped, with a 7-17 record going into the Reagan game, with hopes to improve and get their first win of district on Friday.

“A win for us would be huge for our momentum and our confidence as a team, and beating Reagan is always good for the students of Johnson for bragging rights,” junior C.J. Rice said.

With a win against Reagan this week seeming almost imperative the l team is asking for support from the students on Friday.

“We need all the support we can get, we need to have a rowdy crowd to help the team’s energy this Friday so we can get our season back on track,” Louwagie said.
