Kingsman: The Secret Service delivers a twist on spy formula

Kingsman: The Secret Service delivers a twist on spy formula

by Amon Jackson | staff writer

Kingsman: The Secret Service  was a movie I heard about last year and I really didn’t care to see it, not in trailers at least. From looking at the poster in 2014 I just thought it would be another dark and gritty spy movie. But then I saw the trailer.  I thought it would be a spy movie parody for 13 year olds, but once again I was wrong.

This movie was everything in one a dark spy movie – a comedy making fun of other spy movies and an awesome action movie warped in one. This movie has all the basic elements of a spy movie – assassins, double crosses  and evil villains with strange accents. But it takes all of these elements and changes them from what you would normally expect them to be.

It isn’t really for anyone younger than 14 and older than 34. Mostly because of the humor, the jokes are a little inappropriate for anyone under the age of 14 and too immature for anyone over the age of 34. But besides that, this movie is very funny and it never stops even in the most serious moments and that’s why it’s so great. This movie pokes fun at other spy movies and there cliches, most of them are about 007 movies.

This movie may not be as serious as some would like it to be but it does have its moments where it can become very dark. In dark spy movies anyone can die and this movie gives you that feeling sometimes. All I can say is  if the villain catches the spy and plans to kill him, he will.

The verdict for this movie is 3.5 out of 4 Jag Spots. This movie had it all – comedy, action, a well written story. It’s the Kick Ass(2010 movie) of spy movies. The only problem is it’s hard to keep up with what’s going on in the film. It’s very fast paced so if you need to go to the bathroom better to hold it until the end or you might miss something. But in the end Kingsman: The Secret Service is a movie worth your money. I’m glad I saw this movie and and I can’t wait to see it again.
