‘Thor: Ragnarok’ Marvel’s features best Thor yet

Thor+%3A+Ragnarok

by David Kent & Jeremy Reyes| staff writers

The third installment in the Thor movie series is out and ready to see.  But, does it live up to the hype?

Thor is back and better than ever, funnier than ever, and with a new look. Chris Hemsworth returns as our lovable (or not so lovable) God of Thunder, Cate Blanchett as the edgiest goddess to ever exist, Hela. Now, we cannot forget Mark Ruffalo as the incredible Hulk, last but certaintly not least, Tom Hiddleston as fan-favorite character, Loki.

Right off the bat the movie starts with a lot of jokes, breaking the seriousness of the previous two movies with a splash humor. The movie had people laughing in the theater frequently, even though the movie has a lot of humor in it, it still carried serious undertones combined with an epic story. The new characters that were introduced felt fleshed-out, even the edgy Hela had some charm and she turned out to be a pretty decent villain with clear motivations and drive. The fight scenes throughout the movie had good cinematography and made you feel like you were right in the middle of the action. Loki’s as clever as ever, compared to the last two films, he felt less of a villain but more of an anti-hero. The movie picks up where the previous Avenger’s left off, and we finally figure out where Hulk and Thor were during Captain America: Civil War.  The visual effects were stunning, making some scenes look like grand paintings.

Now time for the dreaded negatives. While some scenes in the movie look really good, others fell flat looking too fake. Some parts of the plot didn’t sit right. However, the negatives were few and far between and were outweighed by the positives.

We give this movie an A+ and would definitely recommend this movie for everyone to see.
