Jags look for win in first district game of season

Jags look for win in first district game of season

Following two crushing defeats, the Jags look to pick up a victory in their first district game this Saturday night against the MacArthur Brahmas at Comalander Stadium. Last week against the East Central Hornets, the Jags had many opportunities to come back late in the fourth quarter down by ten, but failed to do so, and now look at a 2-2 record. The Jags gave up a season high 31 points, most of which came from Hornets’ running back Chris Armstrong who ran for over 200 yards.

The once explosive Jag offense, filled with exciting trick plays hasn’t been much of a factor at all in these last two games. Last week, the Jag offense only had a total of 311 yards, 233 of which came on the ground.

The Jags enter this weeks game without cornerbacks senior Mario Verrett and junior Jacob Lady-Schreiber, both of whom sustained leg injuries in last week’s game. Another key player who won’t suit up for the Jags Saturday night is junior defensive lineman Connor Roy, who seperated his shoulder during a tackling drill in practice earlier in the week.

Over the last two games, the Jag receivers have only caught nine balls, with no touchdowns. In order to score on the tough Brahma defense this week, the Jags offense is going to have to pick it up and start putting points on the board through the air, not just on the ground.
