This Means War- a win for both sides

This Means War- a win for both sides

This Means War, starring Reese Witherspoon, Chris Pine, Tom Hardy and the always hilarious Chelsea Handler, caught my attention from the moment I first saw the trailer. With two leading actors who are pretty easy on the eyes, and a classic plot with a twist, This Means War was at the top of my “To See” list. And let me just Say, it didn’t disappoint.

After getting to the movie a bit late, and missing just the opening previews (woohoo!), I was seated and ready to go. The first scene starts with FDR (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy) flying in to a raid at some fancy party. Not three minutes into the movie, the two CIA agents are under fire. Helicopters full of cash, guys flying off roofs- absolute and total chaos. After the mission failed, the boys are “grounded” and forced out of the field for the time being. And they are bored, bored, bored.

Enter Lauren (Witherspoon), the beautiful consumer products tester who becomes both the boys romantic interest. The way she meets each guy is completely adorable and funny at the same time. But when the FDR and Tuck find out they are both dating Lauren, the real fun begins.

The new flick combines action and comedy creating a must-see.

Sabotage is taken to a whole new level, with a little (or a lot) of help from FDR and Tuck’s CIA buddies-recon, the flooding of someones apartment, and a tranquilizer gun, just to name a few.  Both men have their strengths, both men have their flaws. I could never quite choose who I was cheering for. When I started wanting one to get the girl, I changed my mind with the next scene and wanted the other to win her. Even their teams start to become invested in their little side operation, providing for some very funny moments.

Speaking of funny, Chelsea Handler is absolutely hilarious in this movie. She plays Trish, the perfectly rude, crude and no-nonsense counterpart to Witherspoon’s sweet and slightly wounded Lauren. The scenes with the two friends are some of the movie’s funniest, with Handler throwing down one liners with perfect comedic timing.

This was definitely one of the best movies I’ve seen in a while, the perfect mix of comedy, action and romance. I would absolutely recommend going to see it, because there’s literally something in it for everyone to enjoy.
