Jag swimmers competed in the NEISD distance meet last weekend, with outstanding results. The meet consisted of hundreds of swimmers from many different districts.
“There were over 440 swimmers at it, from schools from Northeast, Comal, Boerne, and Northside school districts,” junior Cameron Wickes said.
The swimming events that were held were not the usual high school events.
“Events like the 1000 meter free, the 800 free relay, the 400 I.M., and 200 fly, back, and breast stroke,” Wickes said.
With months of training and practice to their credit, Johnson athletes outswam their competitors. The Jags picked up honors in the backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle at numerous distances. Wickes and other teammates, including the girls and boys relay teams, set Johnson records in a variety of events.
“Johnson did really well,” Wickes said. “A lot coaches from different schools came up to us and congratulated us, and told us we have come a long way.”
